$5.5 million in cannabis products were seized at an unlicensed marijuana dispensary in Monrovia last week, authorities said on Thursday, May 22.
The Department of Cannabis Control shut down operations at the unlicensed retailer, which was allegedly preparing to distribute more than $4.8 million worth of illegal cannabis flower, according to a news release by the DCC.
Officials also discovered possible evidence of human trafficking during the enforcement operation, the news release said.
“The Department remains focused on disrupting the illicit cannabis market and protecting the public,” said Charles Smith, DCC’s law enforcement chief. :These operations reflect the power of our collaboration with our local law enforcement partners and highlight that the outcome of these efforts touches every level of the unlicensed supply chain.”
Officials also seized:
- 114 pounds of illegal cannabis edibles
- 83 pounds of illegal cannabis concentrate
- 76 pounds of illegal cannabis vape cartridges
- $14,458 in cash
