RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – A drawn-out legal fight over a proposed marijuana grow operation in Rutland appears to be over.
Frederick Watkins set out last year to build a backyard garage to grow cannabis in his East Washington Street neighborhood
After back and forth with local officials, he was eventually granted a permit. But neighbors then appealed the case to the Vermont Environmental Court this past fall.
The lawyer for the neighbors now says Watkins told the court he isn’t interested in pursuing the plan anymore, and the court said Wednesday the case is now moot.
