New Proposal to Sell Cannabis in State Stores Passes House


The bill passed by a narrow 102–101 vote, with every Democrat in support and every Republican opposed. While the move marks a historic milestone—Pennsylvania has never advanced an adult-use bill this far—its chances in the GOP-controlled Senate are slim to none. Even longtime legalization advocate Sen. Dan Laughlin, a Republican who chairs a key Senate committee, has said the bill is “dead on arrival,” due to his own opposition to the state store model.
