A cannabis factory has been uncovered in a terraced house in Sneinton by police. Officers had been alerted to attempted break-ins in the Nottingham neighbourhood.
Officers were called to Sneinton Boulevard around 2.40am on Wednesday (May 28) after a member of the public reported two men were climbing over a gate wearing balaclavas. A further call was then received that men were attempting to break into a home in Westwood Road, Sneinton, and had been disturbed by a resident.
Response teams arrived at the scene quickly and found a nearby address on the same street with boarded up windows, large amounts of garden waste dumped outside and the sound of constant whirring coming from within. After gaining entry, officers discovered the basement, first floor and loft of the house had been converted into cannabis growing areas.

Around 150 plants were found and the growing rooms had been fitted with lamps and fans. A 35-year-old man who was found inside the property was arrested on suspicion of cultivating a Class B drug.
Inspector Andrew Hallam, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our initial investigation leads us to believe offenders were in the area to target cannabis grows in order to steal the crop. The incident highlights again how these grows act like a magnet for further criminality and put neighbouring homes at risk.
“They also bring a host of other problems to communities, particularly as a fire hazard, so we always consider it good news to be able to shut them down, dismantle the equipment and destroy the plants. If you believe a drugs factory is operating in the area where you live please let us know so we can take positive action.
“Our inquiries into this incident are ongoing and if you have any information which could assist us please get in touch.”
