Cannabis user caught after answering door to police looking for someone else


AN ISLE of Wight cannabis user was caught after answering the door to police while officers were looking for someone else.

Jimmy Parr, of Arthur Street, Ryde, appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates on Tuesday, May 13.

The 29-year-old admitted possession of cannabis, in Ryde, on January 4.

Prosecutor, Lauren McConnell, said police attended a property on an unrelated matter.

She said they noted the smell of cannabis, and Parr, who opened the door to police, confessed to smoking some in the garden.

He was arrested and searched, and police found small quantity of cannabis in one of his pockets.

Oscar Vincent, defending, said police were called to the address for reasons unconnected to Parr.

Police were looking for someone else and Parr was subsequently released and invited to attend the police station at a later date.

Parr, who said he was in the process of getting a medical cannabis prescription, was fined £80.

He was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £32 surcharge.
