K-9 Sniffs Cannabis, Cocaine During Stop For Equipment Violations: PD

PLAINFIELD, IL — An Indiana man was cited on May 13 in Plainfield after he was discovered to be in possession of cannabis, cocaine and brass knuckles, officials said.

Byron Y. Raymundo Fajardo was sitting unbuckled in the backseat of an orange Toyota Corolla that was pulled over at about 7:22 p.m. near Route 30 and Lily Cache Road for “minor equipment violations,” Commander Anthony Novak told Patch. The driver did not have a valid driver’s license.

While an officer was writing citations, a K-9 sniffed the car and was alerted to the presence of drugs, Novak said. During a search, police found a plastic container with suspected cannabis concentrate, a grinder with suspected cannabis residue, a plastic bag containing suspected cannabis flower, and two small plastic bags of a white powdery substance, which later field-tested positive for cocaine.

The 24-year-old Raymundo Fajardo, of Lawrence, Indiana, was also in possession of brass knuckles, according to Novak.

While processing Raymundo Fajardo, police discovered the Guatemalan identification card he provided them with was fictitious.
