‘Sophisticated’ cannabis farm setup worth £300k discovered in County Durham home

The discovery of a cannabis farm described as being a “sophisticated” setup inside a County Durham home has led to the arrest of a man.

Police swarmed a home in Peterlee on Wednesday (April 30) – revealing an organised cannabis farm made of 400 plants worth £300,000.

One man was arrested at the scene – as a picture shows the scale of the farm that takes up a whole room.

Peterlee Police added: “Yesterday, officers from Peterlee NPT executed a drugs warrant at a property in Peterlee, uncovering a sophisticated cannabis cultivation setup.

“This is a significant disruption to organised criminal activity in our area. Cannabis cultivation is far from harmless — it fuels wider criminal networks, leads to serious anti-social behaviour, and poses real fire and safety risks to neighbouring homes due to dangerous electrical bypassing often involved.
