“CHEECH AND CHONG PERFORM/PERFORM AGAIN (1978)

This video contains the only commercially released footage of Cheech and Chong’s stand-up act. It was released in 1978 and runs 84 mins. It was recorded at Spanky’s comedy club just after Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong completed filming Up in Smoke. They even make a comment about not having to do stand-up anymore if they make a lot of money from the movie. There are actually two videos filmed the same night, Perform and Perform Again https://youtu.be/PCVwYJ9F6fU .

You have to see the “square” 1970s clothing Tommy is wearing. It’s bizarre.

The Perform video contains the following sketches:
• Chinese Restaurant – Chong is a waiter at a Chinese restaurant who must communicate with a Superfly-esque black man who’s eating at the restaurant.
• Queer Wars – Similar to the bit in Still Smokin. However, this one is more raw and funnier. Basically, it’s two gays interacting with a StarWars theme. They use dildo guns to shoot the bad guys.
• Low Rider – This is the onstage re-enactment of the legendary first scene of Up in Smoke. Cheech is wearing the same outfit (except for the hat). It starts with Cheech entering his car with Low Rider playing and ends with Chong throwing up in Cheech’s lap as the cop asks for his name. RALPHHHHH! The dialogue is different and there are a lot more jokes, jokes that were not included in Up in Smoke.
• Harry Palms – Similar to the bit in Still Smokin. However, it’s a little different and there’s more improvisation.
• Ralph and Herbie – Cheech and Chong pretend like they’re dogs. This bit appeared on the Sleeping Beauty album, among others.” – cheecandchongfans.com

Bharti Singh: Indian comedian arrested after cannabis found in raid.
Indian comedian Bharti Singh has been arrested after cannabis was found during a raid on her home.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) said 86.5g (3oz) of the drug was found in the house she shares with husband, screenwriter Haarsh Limbachiyaa.

The pair, who co-host the reality show India’s Best Dancer, were taken in for questioning.

The raid was part of an investigation into allegations of illegal drug use in the entertainment industry.

The investigation emerged from a high-profile inquiry into the death of the actor Sushant Singh Rajput in June and has led to multiple raids on figures from the TV and film world.

Rajput, 34, was found dead in his flat in Mumbai on 14 June. Police at the time said he had killed himself.
“[Ms Singh] and her husband have been detained for questioning about possession of narcotics substances,” Sameer Wankhede, one of the investigating officials, told the ANI news agency.

The PTI news agency quoted an official stating that Ms Singh’s name came up during an interview with a drug pusher.

Upon leaving her home in Mumbai, Ms Singh told reporters: “They have called us for some questioning, that’s all.”

Top Bollywood actors including Deepika Padukone, Rakulpreet Singh and Shraddha Kapoor have been questioned as part of the recent investigation.
